DBS is Chief Medical Officer for the Isle of Man International TT Races and the Southern 100 motorcycle races.

He is Chairman of the Isle of Man DHSS Paramedic Steering Committee, co-chairman of the ACU [Auto Cycle Union] Medical Panel and the British Medical delegate to the International Medical Panel of the FIM [Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme].

He retired as an NHS Consultant at Noble Hospital on 31st March 2005 but continues his involvement in provision of motorsport medical services.
